Fun fact about…
The Yalukit-willam clan of the Kulin nation were the first people to call the area around Hobsons Bay home, roaming along the thin coastal strip from Werribee to Williamstown.
The first European to arrive in the area we now know as Williamstown was Acting-Lieutenant Charles Robbins in 1803. When Governor Richard Bourke and Captain William Lonsdale visited the emerging settlement in 1837, it was named William’s Town after King William IV.
